About a month ago, I was sitting in my Dad’s garden late one evening and I was thinking how I hadn’t seen a hedgehog at all this year. I thought about how the previous year I’d seen a fair few, particularly when walking my dogs and about the family of hedgehogs that used to live in my Dad’s garden a few years ago. I then remembered a programme I’d seen about hedgehogs hibernating and how they have to be a certain size to survive hibernation and what we can do to help them.
I even imagined I could see one walking down my Dad’s path and realised that it was just shadows as it was dark!
My mind then wandered off in a different direction and then I decided it was time to go in and go to bed.
Just as I was about to get up out of my chair, I noticed a movement out of the corner of my eye, to the side of me. Of course you’ve guessed it! A huge hedgehog!
I sat very still so I didn’t frighten it and it made it’s way up the lawn, then turned to the left onto the path and started coming down the path, just as I had pictured it!
Well, even though I am a great believer in the Law of Attraction, even I was totally amazed and in awe of how this hedgehog seemed to manifest out of my thoughts! I sat there just thinking “I’ve created a hedgehog!! How brill is that? Wow!” All the time, keeping very still so as not to break the spell!
I even had a fleeting thought that perhaps it wasn’t real, which was quickly dispelled when after it turned from the path to behind the hedge, it started crunching on the left over fish and chips I’d put out for the cats/fox, whichever got there first!
It was only later I understood that I had actually followed the “rules” so to speak of how to manifest what you want. (Not that I particularly wanted a hedgehog!)
I thought about how nice it would be to see a hedgehog, visualised a big hedgehog, believed I could see it (before it was actually there!) and then just let it go and started thinking about something else. In other words, there was no need, desperation or attachment to see a hedgehog, so I was able to let the thought go in a detached way!
It’s exactly how the Law of Attraction works. Often we get stuck on the letting go bit, as we have so much need and attachment to what it is we wish to manifest! I know this has happened to me! Even when we say we want something, we are coming from a place of lack! When we want something, it is because we know we don’t yet have it and that’s where our focus is!
Instead if we think about how great it would be to have/be/do, enjoy the thoughts, feelings and images that go with it, then just let it go. It obviously sends out the right message, as my experience well and truly demonstrates! My hedgehog turned up in less than 5 minutes!
I realise of course that there are those who will believe this was nothing more than coincidence and that hedgehogs are out and about at that time, so there was a good chance I’d see one and that is a fair point.
I would just like to add that how coincidental was it that I happened to be sitting in the garden,at that particular time, thinking about hedgehogs and one appeared as if by magic a few minutes later! Also, for the rest of my time there, I didn’t see another one and when I told my Dad I’d seen one (although I didn’t go into all the details) he said he hadn’t seen one in his garden for years!
For me, it was a great lesson in how powerful the Law of Attraction is, how letting go is the key and how we are all capable of creating our experiences.
And with that I’m off to walk the dogs. Just have to make sure I step over the hundred hedgehogs in the front garden! (Only kidding!!)
